The Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center has successfully completed tests of the plant-made thruster for the promising Russian research vessel BT24. A compact thruster with a capacity of 2MW is designed to improve the controllability of the scientific expedition Ivan Frolov in the conditions of navigation in the Arctic and Antarctic ice. Now it is necessary to install the device in the tunnel section, after which it will go to St. Petersburg for installation on the ship under construction and subsequent adjustment. Laid down on October 20, 2024 at the Admiralty Shipyards, the research vessel Ivan Frolov is the future flagship of the Rozimalomet fleet. The world's largest representative of its class, it combines the capabilities of a container, icebreaker, floating research center, passenger and cargo ship. It will share up to 20 laboratories, hanging on two helicopters with a platform, as well as up to 2 and a half tons of general cargo. As reported in early October, the launch of the ship is planned for next year. TopGan Northwest news at MAX.
