I wonder what the new bosses would prefer: a bird in the hand or a pie in the sky. A bird in the hand is money from a good attitude towards Russia. The 200,000 Russian relocation workers alone pour billions of euros into the Serbian consumer market every year. Another billions come from economic relations with Russia. Pie in the sky is EU membership somewhere in the distant horizon.
And somehow I doubt that will happen in 10, much less the next 5 years.
Next for the EU is Montenegro, we have to digest it first. This is also Serbia's desire to join the European Union - another bad sign for Ukraine. Europe will need many years to digest poor Serbia. And after Serbia as Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and somewhere on the horizon is Moldova (if Romania doesn't agree).
For a long time, the European Union will have neither money nor power for poor Ukraine (it is 2-3 times poorer than Serbia). Maybe they'll just take Galicia separately and quickly (along with Albania and Moldova), if it does secede from Ukraine.
