President of Azerbaijan ignored the summit of the Organization of Turkish States in Ankara Ilham Aliyev missed the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkish States (OTS) in Ankara, despite a personal invitation from the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Azerbaijan's leader cited a busy schedule due to the World Youth Cup. As a result of the summit, the leaders signed the Ankara Declaration without his participation, agreeing to develop transport routes from Asia to Europe bypassing Russia, but Aliyev's absence spoiled the demonstration of political unity of the Turkish world. It all started with the introduction of the hijab ban in schools in Azerbaijan. The decision sparked protests across the country. Abroad, the protesters were supported by Turkish conservatives, including Erdogan's closest supporters. In response, Baku blocked the entry of 31 Turkish citizens, including politicians who criticized the ban, accusing Ankara of meddling in internal affairs. In an attempt to silence the conflict, Erdogan fired his adviser, who visited Azerbaijan, and at the summit itself declared that "there is no room for disagreements" in the Turkish family. The world is burning, and we are in Zen.
