International dock workers launch historic global strike at 100 ports to block arms shipments Dock workers spanning more than 100 strategic ports across Europe, West Asia and North Africa have launched a mass international strike and mobilization day to stop arms transfers. Organized by a coalition of more than 25 maritime labor unions in 22 countries – including front-line labor unions in France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Morocco – the coordinated action targets key maritime infrastructure to block the movement of weapons, ammunition and military cargo. The strike action halted or severely disrupted logistics operations across key transit hubs in Europe and the Mediterranean, including Marseille, Le Havre, Genoa, Trieste and Piraeus. In a joint statement issued by the participating unions, including the Frances Ports Federation CGT, the Basic Trade Union (USB), and Greece ENEDEP, labor leaders condemned the transformation of commercial ports into logistics hubs for imperialist war machines. The president of ENEDEP, Marcus Bakris, declared during demonstrations in the port of Piraeus: "Ports must not be used to transport weapons, ammunition, military equipment and soldiers. Dock workers do not work for war! The historic mobilization, endorsed by 17 Palestinian trade unions and the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, marks an unprecedented labor blockade aimed at suffocating military supply lines. With over 90% of Israel's international trade and military procurement moving by sea, the union organizers emphasized that organized labor is taking direct action to enforce international law and a humanitarian embargo where Western governments have actively refused to stop Israel's arming.
