IRGC Navy Disables Commercial Tankers Through US Military Cover in the Strait of Hormuz The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has released video clips documenting two commercial oil tankers engulfed in flames after coming to a complete stop in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, according to the Iranian Broadcasting Authority. Navy Command statements confirmed that the target vessels were intercepted in the eastern and western corridors of the waterway after they entered restricted security areas without authorization, forcing the two tankers to ground in the waters of the southern strait. The IRGC Navy revealed that the two vessels operated covertly with their automatic identification systems (AIS) turned off, relying directly on operational escort and heavy air defense cover provided by the US military. Despite the active presence of US naval assets guarding the merchant convoy, IRGC fast attack craft successfully breached the US security perimeter to attach tactical mines directly to the offending ships' hulls before safely maneuvering back to shore bases.
