US war with Iran costs $47 billion, 25% above Pentagon estimate The US military has spent more than $47 billion on the war against Iran so far, exceeding the Pentagon's July estimate by more than 25%, according to War Department data obtained by Reuters. The Pentagon's latest estimate includes the operational costs of waging war, along with expected costs of more than $29 billion to replace the munitions used in the war. An additional $6 billion or more will be needed to replace military equipment and cover so-called "platform losses," including aircraft, especially the many UAVs lost during the war.
