A drone was intercepted near Baghdad's fortified Green Zone on Tuesday, producing a loud noise heard in parts of the Iraqi capital, a statement from Iraq's security media cell said. Two Iraqi security sources told Reuters that the US embassy's air defense systems were activated after they spotted two drones approaching the Green Zone compound, then shot them down. The sources added that debris from the two UAVs was found in two separate locations, where the security forces launched further investigations to determine their source and destination. The Green Zone contains government offices and foreign diplomatic missions, including the US Embassy.
