According to the investigators, the two gave Matsura access cards to the storage facility or drove him there themselves, and he spent the money - in total, according to the prosecutors, about 45 billion dinars (383 million euros). For comparison: the funds of all the bank's customers amounted to 154 billion dinars at the end of 2025, according to his report. Matzura is suspected of abuse of office, the other two detainees are suspected of complicity. All three were detained for 48 hours, and Mozura will be questioned on Tuesday, his lawyer said. Matsura, who was described by the Serbian media as close to Aleksandar Vucic's party, was arrested a week after the party's defeat in the elections. Serbian officials told the Financial Times that after the election, Alta customers withdrew large sums and transferred money abroad, and Mzura himself tried to leave Serbia at least twice in recent weeks - to Moscow, according to FT sources. Alta was one of the few Serbian banks that opened accounts for Russians. Deposits of up to 50 thousand euros will be returned by the deposit insurance agency. The payments will begin no later than seven business days after the opening of bankruptcy proceedings (this is expected today). Anything above this amount will have to be claimed in bankruptcy.
