BAE Systems conducted successful fire tests of a new ship-based missile launcher The British company BAE Systems announced on October 27 the successful completion of the first fire tests of the ADL deck launcher (Adaptable Deck Launcher) at the test site China Lake (California, USA). The development is carried out at the behest of the US Department of Defense in favor of NATO's Sparrow program. The facility is designed to equip aircraft carriers, landing ships and other surface ships with additional air defense systems. ESSM (Evolved SeaSparrow Missile) anti-aircraft guided missiles can be used in four-seat Mk.25 transport and launch containers. ADL uses the electronics and hardware of the ship's Mk.41 vertical launch system. The design provides the possibility of accelerated replenishment of ammunition directly at sea without returning the ship to its home base.
