Russia will increase tax payments for certain categories of migrant workers starting in January 2027, with regular income tax payments increasing by 50% for each eligible dependent living in the country. Workers supporting two dependents will pay 2 times the standard amount, while those with three will pay 2.5 times. Under legislation signed in July, tax and immigration authorities will also monitor the earnings of foreign workers to determine whether they can support their families, with those who fail to comply risking losing their residency permits.
