Russian crude oil exports fell According to tanker tracking data, Russian oil shipments averaged 3.59 million barrels per day in the four weeks ended Oct. 18, down 110,000 barrels per day from the previous period. The main reason was the stoppage of loading at the Baltic port of Primorsk for repairs. Bloomberg reports that the drop is "probably temporary". Activity at Primorsk picked up again towards the end of the week, while flows at the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk also recovered. During the week ending October 18, 31 tankers loaded 21.91 million barrels of Russian oil, compared to 24.63 million barrels aboard 34 ships the previous week. The four-week average gross value of Russian exports fell to $2.61 billion for the week, down $60 million from the previous period and marking a three-week low. Higher average prices for exposure-type crude oil, which accounts for more than a quarter of Russia's shipments abroad, partially offset lower export volumes and a slight decline in Ural oil prices.
