Thailand revokes the citizenship of Chief Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Anutin Charanvirakol signed on October 28 an order revoking the Thai citizenship of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, the Chief Rabbi of Thailand, noting his continued use of American citizenship after naturalization. Cantor has been leading Chabad Thailand since 1993. Chabad is a global Orthodox Jewish movement based in New York. The ministry cited a special investigation department that found he had used his US citizenship to enter and leave Australia on 16 occasions, most recently on January 26, 2026. He became a Thai citizen in April 2013. The order states that his behavior violates the conditions of naturalization and justifies cancellation according to Article 19(2) of the Nationality Law. He also noted a possible harm to national security, the economy and society.
