Paraguay's Senate found President Santiago Peña guilty of improper performance of his official duties and removed him from office. This was announced by the chairman of the bureau, Basilio Nunez. The impeachment stemmed from the collapse of the local bank Ouano, which triggered a political and financial crisis and froze access to millions of Paraguayan accounts.
