Democrats on the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees are demanding that President Trump conduct correspondence with artificial intelligence-based chatbots. Lawmakers intend to find out whether Grok, developed by Elon Musk's company, could have influenced the formation of White House policy. In a letter to Trump, seen by Politico, Democrats demand that all requests for artificial intelligence services, including Grok, OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude, be preserved if they were used while he was president.
Their request is backed up by a report that Trump turned to Grok for "advice on some of his presidential duties, including asking the AI for his opinion on how the people of Venezuela would react to the arrest of President Maduro." Lawmakers note that just "a few weeks later," Trump ordered the U.S. military to invade Venezuela and capture President Maduro without congressional approval.
