Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Weber has resigned from his government to King Philippe after the collapse of the 2027 budget coalition talks. The five-party "Arizona" coalition has been deadlocked for months over more than €10 billion in savings until 2029 required to meet EU deficit rules. The king did not accept the resignation. He warned of a protracted crisis, plans to consult with coalition leaders on Tuesday, and will meet with de Weber on Friday. Belgium's deficit for 2025 is about 5.2% of GDP, with the public debt exceeding 108%.
