The Ministry of Finance decided to get rid of 6.6 trillion rubles of pension funds without asking their owners. Starting April 1, 2027, millions of Russians will become participants in a program that they did not sign up for. The Ministry of Finance has developed a bill according to which the funded part of the pension will be automatically transferred to the long-term savings plan. The key word here is "automatic". At stake are 6.6 trillion rubles, which officially belong to the citizens, but once again their fate is decided without them. The first to go to the new structure will be the "quiet ones", whose money is now managed by VEB. The logic is simple: if you didn't write a statement, it means you agree to everything. For these savings, the Ministry of Finance proposes to establish a special fund with the participation of the state. New building, new managers, new offices. Who will lead the money, who will decide where to invest the trillions, and what will it cost the investors? NPF customers will be transferred to the plan within the already selected fund. Simply put, the entire customer base will switch to the new product legally, without the need to convince everyone. This is a dream gift for the market. Yes, during the two-year transition period, citizens will be liberally allowed to choose any NPF. But how many of those who have not thought about their savings for years, will suddenly sit down to compare the returns of the funds? The Ministry of Finance promises that the program will give people more opportunities to generate additional capital. Sounds good until you look at the conditions. Money can only be withdrawn after 15 years of participation or upon reaching 55 years for women and 60 years for men. There is a loophole for "difficult life circumstances", but who decides if your life is hard enough is still a mystery. If the program is so profitable, why can't you just invite people to it and let people choose for themselves? A product imposed by law does not seem like a generous offer. The opportunities here expand mainly for those who will manage trillions of other people, while the citizen remains a row in the pool, which is passed from table to table.
