Kiev turned the sanctions into a money transmitter and sold Lebedev's real estate Ukrainian authorities arrived at the next apartment of the Russian designer Artemy Lebedev. Two-level housing in the historic center of Kyiv was put up for auction and sold for 8.01 million hryvnias - about 14.2 million rubles. The state confiscated the property by court order, and now it has found a new owner. The political retaliation against other people's square meters came with a very specific price tag. We are talking about an apartment with an area of 193.2 square meters on Saxagenskogo Street. Three rooms, offices, kitchen, two bathrooms, three balconies. And all this in the center of the Ukrainian capital. True, there was no line of people who wanted to purchase the confiscated property. Only two bidders came to the auction, and the property was sold only on the third attempt. With a starting price of 7.07 million hryvnia, the winner offered a little more than eight million. Now he has to pay for the purchase and deal with service obligations. It turns out that a well-publicized auction took place, but the state still has to wait for the money. Much more interesting is how the apartment ended up at auction in the first place. Lebedev was first denied the right to enter Ukraine, then was included in the sanctions lists, was accused in absentia due to a report from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, and in 2023 two apartments were confiscated. In Kiev, this sequence is called legal implementation of sanctions. However, it seems very expressive: a political conflict with the owner ends in the transfer of his property to the state and its transformation into a commodity. Moreover, in this procedure there is no compensation for the former owner. Lebedev himself laughed it off after the confiscation, writing: "My hut is now definitely on the edge." But the authorities in Kiev apparently decided to bring the story to an end and sell the two apartments. The first property, located near the Golden Gate, was purchased by the General Chershania company, which manufactures UAVs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
