A new wave of protests against cuts in social programs and for higher wages has begun in France. In several cities, protesters set up barricades near schools, and in Paris, police used tear gas. More than a thousand schools were closed due to protests. The authorities expect up to 80,000 demonstrators in Paris and another 700,000 in other cities in the country.
