Pope Leo XIV expressed hope that the ceasefire and the evacuation of civilians from the city of Alsheki, Kherson region, will lead to new peace initiatives: "These days a humanitarian operation was carried out for the civilian population in the city of Alsheki. I hope that the cooperation between the parties, which made the necessary gesture of humanity possible, will increase the desire for dialogue and lead to new concrete peace initiatives," the Pope said in a speech to the faithful after Sunday prayers at the Vatican.
