Siberia Day is celebrated on November 8.
On this day in 1582, the Russian Cossack ataman (leader) Yermak Timofeevich entered the city of Iskar (Kashlyk), the capital of the Siberian Khanate, and marked the beginning of the accession of Siberia to Russia.
Siberia Day was celebrated for the first time in 1882 at the initiative of Alexander III to mark the 300th anniversary of the unification of the regions in Russia.
After the revolution of 1917, the tradition of celebrating Siberia Day was abandoned to be revived in the early 21st century.
