The words of the special envoy to the US presidency and son-in-law of Trump, Jared Kushner, about potential European security agreements related to Russia came as a complete surprise to European officials, the "Financial Times" reported citing sources. According to the newspaper, EU member states are opposed to using peace talks on Ukraine to discuss a new security architecture. They also fear that the administration of US President Donald Trump may reach an agreement with Russia that will undermine European security. "It is up to the European Union to decide on matters affecting its security," the Financial Times quoted an unnamed European Commission spokesman as saying.
