US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia and Ambassador to India Sergio Gore may be offered a senior position in the US government, including the office of the US Secretary of State or the White House Chief of Staff, the Washington Sun news portal reported on Wednesday, citing sources. "Gore is being discussed in Trump circles as a candidate for senior administration positions in the second half of the president's term," it said, adding that sources "familiar with internal conversations said they heard Gore's name come up as a possibility for a number of powerful positions, including White House chief of staff and taking over from [Marco] Rubio as secretary of state." Gore, according to the "Washington Sun", is "a close ally of Trump", "a major power broker between Washington and much of Asia, and as a confidant of Secretary of State Marco Rubio".
