The European Commission fears that the EU will not meet the goals of the 2030 Readiness Militarization Strategy and is calling for greater military efforts, the Brussels news outlet reported. In a draft of the Commission's 2027 work plan obtained by the report, the EU is still far from meeting its defense targets despite unprecedented funding and political commitments. Therefore, the Commission intends to push EU countries to do even more to strengthen resilience, preparedness and military capabilities to respond quickly to a crisis or something worse.
