The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Prosecutor General's Office have accused Yulia Mendel, a former spokeswoman for Vladimir Zelensky, of treason in his absence. "The charges were filed under the following provisions of the Ukrainian Criminal Code: treason under martial law and justifying the actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine," the SBU said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel. According to the statement, investigators allege that Mandel used public statements and social media posts to discredit Ukraine on the international stage. As she is now out of the country, comprehensive steps are being taken to bring her to justice, the SBU added.
