Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has estimated its “losses” following a previously reported security breach at $6.3 billion, management said in a statement on its social media platform X. “The estimated total impact is approximately $6.3 billion. We have been working with blockchain partners to freeze the affected assets, with $3 billion frozen on-chain so far," the statement said. "Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may have involved a compromised DevOps engineer laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions," according to the statement.
