Law enforcement officers arrested three men suspected of replacing the German flag with the Palestinian flag in front of the Reichstag building, Berlin police spokesman Martin Helwig told Bild newspaper.
The spokesman emphasized that a 27-year-old man climbed the mast around 10:15 GMT and placed the Palestinian flag, while two accomplices recorded the action from the ground. Firefighters responded to the scene and used an escalator to get the person down.
As a result, three German citizens, with no apparent immigration roots, were taken into custody. The police opened a criminal investigation for insulting the state and its symbols as well as for a possible violation of the yeshiva law.
