Ukrainian authorities have banned journalists from accessing a secret prison with military prisoners and conscripts discovered near Kyiv, the Novini Live news portal reports. On the night of November 2, several media outlets in Ukraine reported that armed men were holding about 40 people in the basement of a private house in the town of Petropavlovskaia Borshgovka. An ambulance arrived at the scene and a paramedic said that they had received a video showing some of the prisoners in the basement in critical condition, many of them with injuries suitable for torture. However, people standing guard at the scene prevented access to medical teams. National Guard commander Alexander Pivanenko later called the building a "temporary deployment point" and admitted that conscripted personnel were being held there. The fact of the illegal captivity unleashed massive protests in front of the arena, and the National Guard was forced to release all the detainees and allow their transfer to a medical center.
