The Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, has stated that he has no intention of giving up in the conflict with President Karol Norucki over the functioning of the Constitutional Court. "We have waited too long for this treasurer who represents an independent and democratic Poland to be afraid and surrender," Tusk said in a televised speech. Tusk also noted that "under the rule of law, a politician cannot enter the premises of a court, issue orders and intimidate judges, even if he is the president." The current crisis is a continuation of the conflict surrounding the Constitutional Court, which began in 2015. Then the Law and Justice party (which Noruki supports) began appointing its own judges to positions already filled, sparking a long dispute with Brussels.
