The cause of the tragedy in the Bezengi Gorge, when 17 climbers died, was the "exposure" of the glacier due to climate change. This was announced in the parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria, the deputy head of the first ministry for emergency situations in the region, Eldar Khakhuzhev.
