New: The UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry has concluded that Israel committed war crimes and crimes against humanity, including extermination, persecution, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence, throughout the occupied Palestinian territory, while continuing the genocide in Gaza. In today's report, the committee found that Israeli military operations and settler violence in the West Bank were part of an extensive and systematic campaign against Palestinian civilians since October 7, 2023. The report also accused Israeli forces of targeting Palestinian children, using sexual violence to intimidate and displace communities, and expanding territorial control through forced displacement. More than 34,000 Palestinians remain displaced in the West Bank as of August 2026. In Gaza, the researchers concluded that the Israeli forces continued to commit acts of genocide despite the cease-fire agreement, including the killing and wounding of civilians near the Yellow Line. The committee also criticized the Palestinian Authority for suppressing dissent and not investigating abuses by its security forces. She called on Israel to end its occupation, dismantle settlements and return confiscated Palestinian lands, while calling on the Palestinian Authority to investigate violations and provide remedies to the victims.
