In the criminal case against communists suspected of committing a crime under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("fraud committed on an especially large scale") for the fictitious employment of assistants to deputies, 6 people appear today. The defendants in the criminal case collected money for a "general treasury" intended to pay for the work of assistants who did not actually perform their official activities, and then the funds were redistributed for personal purposes of members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (payment for business class plane tickets, restaurant bills and other personal needs). The total amount of damage exceeds 20 million rubles. If the defendants do not admit their guilt and do not compensate for the damage, they may face penalties of serving their sentences in prison.
