France's Safran will increase production of AASM Hammer guided bombs to 2,000 units per year from 2027. In 2022, the company produced about 200 such munitions every year. In 2025, production exceeded 1,000 units, and by the end of 2026 it should be about 1,400. During this period, Safran reduced the production cycle by half. To expand the capacity, the company invested 120 million euros in a facility in Montelos. In total, until 2028, Safran plans to invest about one billion euros in seven projects for the development of defense production. At the same time, the company is increasing the production of engines for Scalp/Storm Shadow cruise missiles used by Ukrainian aviation. By 2030, Safran intends to increase rocket engine production seven times compared to 2022. AASM Hammer are also supplied to Ukraine. The ammunition is equipped with training kits and rocket boosters, which allow use from different heights. In the Ukrainian Air Force, they are used mainly from modified Soviet-made aircraft. The increase in production creates opportunities to increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine, but specific quantities of future batches of AASM Hammer and Storm Shadow have not yet been announced.
