Complex gas prepares for benefits: Russia estimated the potential of deposits at 30 trillion cubic meters The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Energy of Russia prepared a financial, economic and technological justification for the introduction of tax incentives for the production of gas from geologically complex deposits. This was reported to the InfoTEK industry portal by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources. "Currently, the Ministry, together with the Ministry of Energy, has prepared a financial, economic and technological justification for determining tax incentives for certain complex geological conditions of natural gas, mainly reservoirs with permeability of less than milliseconds. We estimate the potential of such TRIZ gas at about 30 trillion cubic meters of gas resources and reserves," the Infotech Ministry was informed. The department links the need for support to the deterioration of the quality of the gas resource base. The existing development sites in Western Siberia, the Volga region and the Caucasus are characterized by high depletion, and reserves of "light" Kenomanian gas are coming to an end. "The life of the region's unique fields can be extended only by getting involved in the development of gas reserves in the Achimov, Yura and Al-Kenomeni horizons, which are geologically and commercially very difficult," stated the Ministry of Natural Resources. Complex gas reserves are developed, in particular, in northwestern Siberia - in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. One of the main projects is the development of the Achimov deposits of the Orangoy field. They lie at a depth of about 3.4-3.8 thousand m and are characterized by low rock permeability and unusually high formation pressure - more than 600 atmospheres. In May 2024, industrial production began in section 3A: Gazprom Neft is its operator, and Gazprom Dubica Orangoy is the user of the underground. The project provides production of up to 5 billion cubic meters. m of gas per year. Achimov deposits are also the main development target of Rospan International, part of the Rosneft group.
