The Coast Guard Corps of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards issued a statement that three oil tankers exploded and caught fire in the last 24 hours after hitting naval mines in the southern Strait of Hormuz. According to the Revolutionary Guards, the tankers tried to take an unauthorized route despite warnings and turned off their radar and navigation systems. The statement noted that ships remained idle along the southern coast of the strait and warned that the route was contaminated with mines.
