Confiscated property offered for sale faster Automatic removal of liens, liens and other encumbrances on assets seized in corruption cases could speed their transfer for sale through the Federal Assets Management Agency. This initiative was taken by the Accounting Office. As of today, about half of the confiscated property is in liens, and their removal takes an average of about a year. In 2026, the Federal Property Management Agency already sold 650 confiscated items for $383.7 billion, up from about 100 items for $88 billion last year. However, the sale continues to be hampered by legal and organizational restrictions, including paper requirements for e-commerce, the need for a minimum of two bidders in individual auctions and a lack of information on the condition of the assets and the associated risks.
