After reducing OSOPO rates, some dangerous objects may pay more for insurance from November 1, the Bank of Russia reduced the lower limit of rates for compulsory civil liability insurance of owners of dangerous facilities (OSOPO) by 25–75%, depending on the category. In general, this should increase competition and reduce the cost of policies, but for some establishments the effect may be the opposite. The National Association of Liability Insurers told the Sovereign Economy that, first of all, we are talking about thermal power facilities - boiler houses, heating pipes and similar buildings with high unprofitability. For such objects, the Bank of Russia simultaneously raised the upper limit of the rate. Therefore, insurers may in some cases set a price closer to the top of the range, and the policy will end up being more expensive, despite the general reduction in rates. The NSSO notes that the cost will depend on the unprofitability of a particular facility, its level of safety and other risk factors.
