The banks are preparing to rehabilitate Smolt according to new rules A group of bank creditors to Smolt is discussing a comprehensive restructuring of the company, which will allow the entrepreneur to avoid bankruptcy and the sale of assets, writes Vadomusti. First Vice-Chairman of the VTB Board of Directors Dmitry Pianov said that for this purpose the new mechanism of the settlement agreement stipulated in the bankruptcy law can be used. Smollett's main creditor is Sberbank, which previously announced an agreement reached by the banks on a plan to get the company out of a difficult financial situation. The developer's financial performance in 2026 worsened significantly. Revenues in the first half of the year fell by 31%, to 117.4 billion rubles, and the net loss reached 22.3 billion rubles against a profit of 1.8 billion rubles a year earlier. During reorganization, the company is not declared bankrupt, its assets are not offered for auction, and debts can be changed for a period of up to 6 years. Matos itself remains the largest developer in Russia with 4.3 million square meters of real estate under active construction.
