Men in Russia save 27% more for children than women. Almost 37% of existing life insurance contracts (CIL) in Russia are for programs benefiting children. Parents save for education, housing and start-up capital before they reach adulthood, according to Subcombank research. The average age of a child when taking out a policy is 8 years, the accumulation period is 8-9 years. Women enter into 81% of these contracts, but the average amount of savings among men is higher: 359 thousand ₽ 282 thousand. Children's plans occupy 20-25% of Rosgostrach's life insurance portfolio, and in Zeta Insurance their share among the new contracts reached 13%. The demand is supported by insurance protection and tax discounts: you can get it from donations of up to 500 thousand rubles a year. However, the long period of accumulation and competition with bank deposits restrains the interest in this type of products.
