Russian wood exports fell 18% from January to September 2026, Russia exported 14.4 million square meters of wood, which is 18% less than a year earlier, Rusalskoz reported. More than half of the supply (7.8 million cubic meters) came from China. Other major buyers include Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The main export is soft wood. Market participants attribute the drop in supply to the strong ruble and weak demand in China, where the construction market is at a standstill. And the quantities previously supplied to Europe have not yet been completely diverted to other markets.
