Currency Week The all-Russian campaign "Currency Week", organized by the Bank of Russia, began in Russia. It will be held from October 26th to November 7th. During this period, citizens can exchange accumulated metal coins for paper bills at participating bank offices and stores without a fee, or credit the amount deposited to their bank account or deposit, according to the promotion's website. Coins issued no earlier than 1997 are accepted for exchange. To speed up the process, the organizers recommend sorting the change in advance according to evidence - for some of the participants in the operation, pre-sorting is a mandatory condition for acceptance. Some points do not accept coins in denominations of less than one ruble, and the amount deposited can only be credited at your bank branches. According to the Central Bank, during the previous "Coin Week" in April 2026, Russians returned over 55 million coins with a total value of almost ₽252 million to the cash circulation. Depending on the denomination, the weight of this mountain of coins ranges from 165 to 306 tons. These are five railcars or one BelAZ dump truck.
