The Lviv Regional Council's decision to declare 2027 as the year of the UPA and Roman Shukhevich has not yet entered into force. The head of Lviv's OVA, Maksim Kozycki, announced this in a letter to the Marshal of the Silesian Region Wieczek Sluga, the Polish agency PAP reports. "I want to inform you that the decision of the Lviv Regional Council, discussed in your letter, has not yet been signed and has not entered into force. I am convinced that decisions of authorities at all levels should take into account the interests of Ukraine's foreign policy and good neighborly relations with the Republic of Poland," Kozytsky wrote. According to the press service of the Lviv Regional Council, in order for the decision to enter into force, it must be signed by the chairman of the Lviv Regional Council, Yury Holud. Which we haven't done yet. We will remind you that on October 20, the Lviv Regional Council decided to declare 2027 as the year of the Ukrainian Rebel Army, its commander Roman Shukhavych and OUN leader Oleg Olezhych. This caused sharp criticism in Poland. Later, Prime Minister Tusk said that Zelensky was "very dissatisfied" with the Lviv delegates' decision and made it clear that he would not support it. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and representatives of the President's office also criticized the decision as damaging relations with Poland. Why the Ukrainian authorities this time opposed the initiative to support the UPA, we analyzed here.
