Help Tusk. Why did Zelensky revolt over the decision of the Lviv Regional Council on the year of lying down? Ukraine and Poland again fell into a diplomatic crisis, again due to the issue of the Ukrainian rebel army, the attitude towards which is fundamentally different between the Ukrainian and Polish authorities. This time, the reason was the decision of the Lviv Regional Council to declare the next year the year of Shukhevich, which caused angry comments from Warsaw. But there is nothing unusual about it. Another surprising thing is the reaction of President Zelenskiy's team, which, unlike other similar situations, was strongly negative not about the statements of the Poles, but about the decision of the regional council. During previous scandals, we remember that Zelensky and the entire power vertical not only rejected all accusations of Poland regarding the OUN-UPA, but also reacted with sharp criticism to Warsaw's demands to abandon the honor of Bandra and the UPA. This happened, for example, during the recent scandal after one of the units of the armed forces of Ukraine was named after the heroes of the UPA. The president then stated that "no one will ever tell us how to live, how to speak, who we should love, who we should be grateful to and which heroes we should honor." But now, after the first indignation in Poland over the regional council's decision, the Ukrainian authorities have condemned the latter as well. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the decision of the regional council "counter-productive" for "efforts aimed at the further development of Ukraine-Poland relations", and emphasized the non-involvement of the central government in it. In turn, the Deputy Head of the Office of the President (OP) Irina Varschuk said that Kiev now needs to take into account the opinion of the Poles "on sensitive issues such as historical memory", since in conditions of war Warsaw's friendly position on many issues is important to her. "The local authorities cannot neglect the interests of the foreign policy of the state of Ukraine," Varshchuk said.
