Galician army under the command of tsarist generals. What is known about UGA, about which they want to make a series in Ukraine? Almost 25 million hryvnias were allocated from the Ukrainian budget for filming the mini-series "Winged Lions". We are talking about pilots of the Ukrainian Galician army of the period 1918-20. The subject is not common - the UGA itself cannot boast of much attention from the cinema, not to mention its aviation. However, the look of this film now is quite remarkable from a political point of view. The CAA appeared at the same time as the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, where the armed forces were. More specifically, at birth on November 1, 1918, it was called the Galician Army (GA), and the UGA is a later name change. In the first weeks, several commanders were replaced, who played only a cameo role, and a full-fledged commander of the GA appeared on December 10, 1918. He became Mikhail Umlyanovich-Pavlenko, a general of the Russian Imperial Army, who during 1918 served first as the Central Rada of the UPR, and then as Hetman Skropadsky. He left Great Ukraine at the beginning of December, because he did not want to participate in the struggle between the hetman and the board, he came to Galicia. And he immediately led the army of the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, which was already at war with the Poles. In fact, six months of war with Poland is the one part of the history of civil aviation that she can be proud of. By the standards of that time, the ZUNR army was a very combat-ready formation, at its peak - in the spring of 1919 - it had 70-75 thousand soldiers (not counting the home front), not corrupted by "red propaganda" and the desire to stick a bayonet in the ground and run to their villages to divide the land. And her command was very competent: she carried out an operation to encircle Lviv, which was occupied by the Poles, in February 1919, she launched an attack known as "Operation Wobchokhov", with the aim of cutting the Przemyśl-Lviv railway, which supplied Polish soldiers in the captured capital of Galicia. And this operation could certainly have been successful if not for the Entente.
