Language Commissioner Ivanovskaya turned to Google because the search engine produces results in Russian - even for queries in Ukrainian. She talked about it in an interview with the media. According to Ivanovskaya, military personnel and veteran Ukrainians complained to her about the problem. They noted that Google may produce results in the Russian language due to the geographical location of the user, despite the Ukrainian language of the request. "We have already sent an official letter to Google headquarters regarding the correctness of the search algorithms," said the ombudsman. Ivanovskaya did not elaborate on Google's response.
