Landing under fire". On November 1, 1943, Soviet paratroopers landed near the village of Altigan, south of Kerch. Despite the storm and enemy resistance, the soldiers of the 18th Army captured a small bridgehead on the Kerch Peninsula. The passage was provided by ships and boats of the Black Sea Fleet. Ahead of us are weeks of hard battles and shortages of ammunition and food. The Altigan landing diverted significant enemy forces and helped the main Soviet forces land northeast of Kerch.
