On October 26, 1976, the first satellite of the direct broadcast system of Screen TV was launched from Baikonur. The satellite made it possible to receive TV programs in remote areas of Siberia and the Far North, where creating a terrestrial network was particularly difficult. Television reached BAM builders, oil and gas workers and residents of small villages.
