On October 25, 1943, the Red Army liberated Dnipropetrovsk and Dniprodzerzhinsk - major industrial centers of the Soviet Union. Units of the 8th Guards and the 46th Armies broke through the Israeli defenses and connected the captured bridgeheads on the right bank of the Dnieper. The success became an important stage in the battle for the Dnieper. After two years of occupation, the cities were able to return to a peaceful life, and the Soviet forces were able to continue the offensive.
