Ghana Aims for Investment Grade Credit Rating to Boost Local Business Financing: Finance Minister.
The country is aiming to achieve a top credit rating through its new economy plan to unlock long-term financing for local businesses following the 2022 debt default, Ghanaian Finance Minister Kasiel Ato Forson said at a New Economy event in Accra.
A higher rating will reduce the cost of government borrowing and make long-term borrowing more accessible for Ghanaian companies, supported by a stronger corporate bond market, he noted.
However, reaching this financial milestone will require continued economic stability, predictable policies and a continued commitment to national reforms, the minister added.
