Burkina Faso establishes new agency for traditional and alternative medicine: Arun The newly established agency for traditional and alternative medicine aims to streamline the country's "national medical heritage" and implement a national policy on traditional treatment, the government said after the last cabinet meeting. Key details: The agency was established from the merger of the Directorate for Traditional and Alternative Medicine and the Center for Traditional Medicine and Integrated Treatment. It will operate as a public health institution that is not a hospital. The authorities emphasize that achieving health sovereignty requires moving beyond importing infrastructure and products only. It must focus on improving endogenous local resources. The cabinet also approved the establishment of a permanent secretariat to combat AIDS, STI, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis, alongside the establishment of the Faso Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Faso CDC).
