Dangote launches tank farm and regional pipeline project in Namibia: Statement Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote's company has launched a 1.6 million barrel fuel storage project at Walvis Bay port, as Dangote stated during his visit to the country. Diesel and petrol tanks at the site's port will be connected to the port via a 16km pipeline, while Dangote Industries plans to eventually develop a regional pipeline network of more than 2,000km linking the facility to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and the DRC. "This pipeline is designed to ensure the security of oil supply to Namibia and its neighboring countries, including some parts of the DRC, and of course, possible parts of South Africa," the Namibian president said at the ceremony. The $2.6 billion investment will eventually lower fuel costs in Namibia, while the regional pipeline will transport refined fuel from Nigeria through Namibia to South Africa, Dangote said. The project sits within Dangotes' wider African energy expansion, which includes its 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Nigeria and plans for a similar-capacity plant in Kenya.
